Insurgency: Sandstorm Goes Free To Play This Weekend

Here’s another shooter game that you might want to check out over the weekend. You can play Insurgency: Sandstorm on Steam for free along with their latest major update for Operation Cold Blood that debuted last December.

We’ll briefly look at what the game is about and some of the notable changes in this week’s update.

A Balance of Realism and Arcade Style of Shooting

This tactical FPS will immerse you into real-life military combat scenarios. Team up with your friends in an 8-player co-op mode against the most challenging AIs that you’ll face.

Or go head to head with other online players in 16-versus-16 multiplayer where you showcase your skills into being the best team in the game. Choose from eight soldier classes depending on your play style.

For a 2018 game, Insurgency: Sandstorm hasn’t lost its spark among the gaming community. Despite the massive popularity of other similar shooters such as Rainbow Six Siege and Call of Duty: Warzone it still gets a decent 2,000 to 5,000 players a day as per Steam Charts

New Weapons, Game Stats Improvements And More

Insurgency: Sandstorm will add the QBZ-97 and QTS-11 to their growing arsenal of weapon choices. These are medium caliber assault rifles available for Riflemen, Demolitions, Commander, and Observer classes.

Game stats have also been revamped with replays being moved in History in the Main Menu. They also improved end of round screens by adding more detailed stats at the end of every round.

Probably the biggest issue for some hardcore shooter fans would be the removal of the competitive game mode because of the team’s decision that it might relieve pressure from the new players.

It is frustrating from a new player’s standpoint that they could be annoyed because they could get fragged by their enemies right away while still learning the ropes.

Longer queue times were also a factor for the team’s decision to remove the game mode because they also wanted a healthy balance between the newbies and the veteran players.

You can check this game out on Steam and play it for free over the weekend. If ever you like this game, they are also providing a 50% discount until February 16.
