Popular Japanese video game company SNK just announced a compilation release of some of their most beloved Neo Geo handheld console titles called “Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection”. All six of the games included in the bundle are of the fighting genre and can currently be purchased individually from Nintendo’s eShop for the Switch.

SNK Gals’ Fighters

SNK Gals’ Fighters is a fighting game that made its debut on the Neo Geo Pocket Colour back in the year 2000. As its name suggests, the game features an all-female roster that pits characters from several SNK franchises like King of Fighters and Samurai Showdown against each other for a chance to claim the title of “Queen of Fighters”.

Samurai Shodown! 2

Samurai Shodown! 2 made its way to the Neo Geo Pocket Colour in 1999 and was meant to be a watered-down version of Samura Shodown 64: Warriors Rage, though the story, cutscenes, and endings were taken from the arcade version.

King of Fighters R-2

King of Fighters R-2 hit the scene in 1999 and was a direct sequel to King of Fighters R-1. SNK based the game off of King of Fighters ‘98 and included an extra Journey Mode that allowed players to strengthen their favourite characters.

The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny

The Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny made its debut on the Neo Geo Pocket Colour in the year 2000 and was essentially a fusion of both The Last Blade titles released on the original Neo Geo console.

Fatal Fury: First Contact

Fatal Fury: First Contact made its appearance on SNK’s handheld console back in 1999 and was patterned after Real Bout Fatal Fury 2. Players were treated to a new character names Lao who was only playable in Versus Mode.

SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium

The last game in the compilation is SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium which was also released on the pocket console sometime in 1999. The game boasted a 26 character roster which included several fan-favourites from both the SNK and Capcom universes, including Ryu, Morgan, Haohmaru, and Terry Bogard.

A release date for Neo Geo Pocket Color Selection has yet to be set, but more information was promised in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you just can’t wait for the bundle to come out, you can always pick up your favourite titles individually on the eShop for eight bucks each.
