Pokemon Direct 2021: Snap and Legends Arceus Look Promising

The Pokemon Direct this year has left fans with a flurry of emotions as Pokemon Legends Arceus and Snap outshined the Diamond and Pearl Sinnoh region remakes. We take a look at what’s in store for the next iteration of the next generation of games in the Pokemon franchise.

Pokemon Snap

Dive into the Lental region with this new game from the Nintendo Switch and take your photo creativity to the next level. Instead of catching Pokemon in this game, the mechanics go in the form of taking quality photos and storing them in your “PhotoDex”.

From watching Pokemon surfing the waves to observing their reactions whenever you throw food at them, Snap gives a fresh experience for fans to enjoy a virtual photo walk.

You can get this game once it launches on April 30.

Pokemon Legends Arceus

This is game sets back to pre-Sinnoh region where it was only a vast wilderness for Pokemon to run free. The preview somewhat takes you back to their popular Nintendo Switch game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Pokemon Legends Arceus gives more emphasis on capturing Pokemon and completing your PokeDex rather than the usual battles that you would get from fellow trainers. The level of immersion looks amazing as well and we’re excited once this comes out in early 2022.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Try To Preserve The Classic

The Pokemon Direct also featured the Diamond and Pearl remakes. However, the fanbase had a few mixed reactions about it.

Some weren’t impressed while some expected similar graphics like the ones in Sword and Shield. But the creators wanted to preserve both of these classic titles. But this remakes don’t look as impressive as what Blizzard did with Diablo 2.

They didn’t mention any updates for Pokemon Unite for this year’s direct but they are planning to launch it next month.

Limited Time Events Coming Your Way On Pokemon Day

Aside from these wonderful games that they’ve presented in this year’s direct, they also announced special events on their other existing games for Pokemon Day this February 27.

Pokemon Sword and Shield will feature max raid battles with Pikachu while Cafe Mix will give away 2,500 golden acorns for logging in.

Pokemon EX will feature Leon and his partner Charizard from the Gala region.

As for the popular mobile game Pokemon Go, they will have a celebration event where players have the chance to catch legendaries from the Kanto region such as Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo.

Now put on your trainer hat and celebrate Pokemon Day!
